When I joined The Ruins of Murkhill

The stooped old man glances nervously around the room at his fellows seated in a circle in chairs, tugs at his shirt collar and then confesses as have the others before him, "Ah um, I am the Wayfarer and I too am a D&D gamer. I have been a gamer, then a D&D gamer for many years since I was a small child. It started innocently enough playing simple board games as a child, then getting into card games and then Monopoly with my parents and older siblings. Before I knew it I was hooked, addicted to the gamer high and always after another fix. All kinds of games came my way and I was weak and could not refuse them. Battleship, Risk, their names are Legion each one feeding my addiction and causing it to grow beyond any control."

"Then," visibly sweating he looks around, clears his throat and continues, "Then came Dungeons and Dragons," he shudders and a look of ecstasy floods his face at the memories, "and then I found out what addiction really was. First I was running fighters, wizards, clerics and thieves, then I discovered paladins and rangers and my ruin was complete. Then when I thought I was at the bottom and it couldn't get any worse I, I," he swallows and starts again, "I became a referee and my destruction was truly complete. I started building worlds, ruined cities, old castles and vast dungeons. Jungles, forests, mountains, islands, nothing was too big or small or obscure, I wanted more and more. I created monsters and treasures galore, I," He breaks off sobbing, "I couldn't stop I just kept going, and no one understood, no one cared, just buy some modules they said, let us have the fun for you they said and don't worry the urge to create will go away they said, but it didn't and I was so miserable and then, and then I heard about this place where I don't have to give creating everything up." Warming too his topic he sits up in his chair and stops wringing his hands, "At last someplace that will support my habit and encourage me to create and build and become and be!" I am so glad to be here!
